Our History
Founded during the height of the Great Depression by business partners Milt Jackson and Rene Blanc, Jackson & Blanc’s primary line of business was installing and designing furnaces in homes in San Diego. After navigating through the tough economic times of the Great Depression, Jackson & Blanc began to flourish, expanding into the air conditioning industry and working with commercial businesses – adding to its existing expertise in residential homes.
In the 1940s when material demands of World War II drove much of the U.S. economy, Jackson & Blanc served as the only HVAC provider in San Diego County to continuously operate throughout the war. In fact, the firm provided air conditioning for Navy pilot training simulators and also installed systems at Camp Callan and Camp Matthews – both waypoints for American soldiers headed to fight in the war.
After the war, the firm focused on expanding services and maintaining profitable growth to ensure long-term trajectory for the company. Jackson & Blanc once again expanded its services and began performing commercial, industrial, residential and governmental new construction, as well as retrofit and maintenance work. In 1984, the company purchased a LINC Service franchise for San Diego and Imperial counties, expanding Jackson & Blanc’s reach throughout Southern California. In the late 1980s, Jackson & Blanc shifted the focus of the business, enabling the company to concentrate on the design and build, retrofit, maintenance, controls and energy-related markets.
