Jackson & Blanc was hired as the prime installation contractor for installation of the new 4.5MW Solar Turbines package gas fired turbine system.
The project also include a major upgrade to the central plant including a new 700 ton absorption chiller, heat recovery steam generator, cooling towers, pumps, and DDC controls. Jackson & Blanc was also responsible for all related general construction including new foundations, structural supports, electrical, exterior poured in place cooling tower yard, and other general construction in support of the new installation. The project had several unique challenges as the installation took place within a fully operation central plant supporting the entire hospital operations.
The J&B team worked closely with the construction manager and facilities personnel to ensure minimal disruptions during the entire project that included several live system tie ins, scheduled shut down, and complex rigging of the 125,000 lb. turbine and 40,000 lb. central into the existing building.
